How a Revolution in Jiu-Jitsu Reached Southeast Texas
In 2003, an unknown martial artist named Eddie Bravo shocked the grappling world. At the Abu Dhabi Combat Club Trials, Eddie submitted Royler Gracie — a member of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu's founding family — with a triangle choke. His victory proved what many doubted: you don't need a traditional gi to dominate on the ground.
Eddie went on to build the 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu system — a no-gi grappling method built for modern self-defense and MMA. Today, 10th Planet has over 100 locations worldwide.
In February 2014, 10th Planet Beaumont opened its doors in Southeast Texas, bringing Eddie Bravo's innovative system to Beaumont, Lumberton, Silsbee, Port Arthur, and the surrounding communities. What started as a single room and a handful of students has grown into one of the region's most respected martial arts academies.

Our Mission
The mission of 10th Planet Beaumont is to empower students by enriching their personal and professional lives through martial arts training. We provide practical, real-world self-defense skills alongside the physical and mental health benefits that come from disciplined training. Our classes prepare students for real-world scenarios and competition alike — and we encourage every student to use their knowledge to improve their community through leadership and service.

Brian "Barncat" Debes founded 10th Planet Beaumont to bring world-class no-gi instruction to Southeast Texas. With over a decade of teaching experience and a Black Belt earned directly under Eddie Bravo, Brian breaks down complex techniques into clear, repeatable steps — whether you're stepping on the mats for the first time or preparing for your next competition.
Brian's approach is hands-on and intuitive. He knows when to push you and when to let you work through a problem. His students consistently describe the gym as a place where you're treated like family from day one.

Georgina "Georgie" Staley — Instructor

Background: Lived and trained in Thailand for 3 years · Teaches Muay Thai, Kickboxing, and Little Dragons
Georgie brings a rare combination of ground and striking expertise to 10th Planet Beaumont. With black belts in both gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo, plus years of Muay Thai training in Thailand, she provides well-rounded instruction across multiple disciplines. Her experience with the Little Dragons program makes her especially effective at connecting with younger students and building their confidence through structured, age-appropriate training.
Chelsea Willis — Instructor

Chelsea combines traditional martial arts foundations with modern training methods. Her background in Kuk Sool Won and her ongoing development in the 10th Planet system allow her to bring a unique perspective to the kickboxing and kids programs. She's known for her patience, high energy, and ability to make every student feel welcome.
